Everybody knows that time is money, so I will try to
explain, as fast as I can, why you should manage your time. There are
5 simple reasons which make it so incredibly important.
Time Management:
• helps to save your precious time• relieves you of stress
• helps to avoid procrastination
• makes everything organized
• helps in achieving your goals
Fast, wasn’t it? Now you know the reasons, so you
can finish to read here. Otherwise, you can continue reading to find
out how to make a first and most important step in effective Time
Management and have more time!
The first and most important step is to detect and
eliminate the “Time Stealers”. Time Stealers are things that you
do which steal your time. Here are some examples of most common “time
stealers”:
- checking often your mail (Do you really have to check your email every 10 minutes?)
- using Facebook, Twitter and other social media (Do you really have to spend so much time trying to realize how popular your last tweet is?)
- gossiping at work (Do you really have to gossip about your boss's new shoes for all the morning?)
- unnecessary meetings (Do you really have to organize a meeting when it is enough to send an email?)
- watching TV (Do you really have to watch “Friends” for the 25th time in a row?)
- procrastination (Do you really think that if you say: “I’ll do that tomorrow”, the dishes will magically put themselves in the dishwasher?)
- unclear goals (Do you really think that “I want to be rich” is a clear goal?)
- long phone calls (Do you really have to stay on the phone for 1 hour talking about your new nail polish?)
- smoking (Do you really have to smoke? You know that there is nothing good in it!)
Now, once you have just become an expert in detection
of the “time stealers”, I have a special task for you. I want you
to become a spy for one week and I want you to write down all the
“time stealers” that you notice in your daily routine. Write how
much time you spend on each of them. After one week, review your
list and reduce or eliminate the “time stealers”. You will be
surprised how much time can you save!
Good luck!
In my next post, I will write how to avoid
procrastination!
